Get Ready for the 2023 iRacing Roar at Daytona this Weekend

iRacing, the leading online racing simulation platform, is excited to announce the return of the iRacing Roar, a solo endurance event that will kick off the 2023 special events calendar. This year’s event will take place on January 13-15 and will feature a lineup of some of the most popular vehicles in the world of sim racing, including GT4’s, Touring Cars, and the brand new Toyota GR86.

The event will take place at the iconic Daytona International Speedway, and will feature a 2.4 hour race on the road course layout. The event will be open to drivers of all skill levels, with a license requirement of D 4.0 Road. The event will be run under dynamic weather and sky conditions, adding an extra layer of realism and challenge to the race.

The event will consist of four different timeslots, with the first taking place on Friday at 22:00 GMT, followed by three more on Saturday at 07:00 GMT, 12:00 GMT, and 16:00 GMT. Each timeslot will feature a 30-minute warmup, 8-minute qualifying session, and 2.4 hour race, for a total of 3.5 hours of on-track action.

The GT4 class will feature some of the most popular GT4 vehicles, including the Aston Martin Vantage GT4, BMW M4 GT4, Mercedes-AMG GT4, and Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR. All vehicles in this class will have a weight penalty of +10kg.

The Touring Car class will feature a lineup of popular Touring Cars, including the Audi RS 3 LMS, Honda Civic Type R, and Hyundai Elantra N TC, which will have a weight penalty of +8kg.

Lastly, the Spec class will feature the all-new Toyota GR86, a highly anticipated addition to the iRacing lineup.

CAR CLASSES

GT4 Class:

  • Aston Martin Vantage GT4 – +10kg weight penalty
  • BMW M4 GT4 – +10kg weight penalty
  • Mercedes-AMG GT4 – +10kg weight penalty
  • Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR

Touring Class:

  • Audi RS3 LMS
  • Honda Civic Type R
  • Hyundai Elantra N TC – +8kg weight penalty

Spec Class:

  • Toyota GR86

The event will feature a field size of 50 drivers, with qualifying and the race being split by iRating, the in-game ranking system used by iRacing. The event will be a solo event, with no team aspect. However, there will be a Drive Through Limit of 20 incs and every 10 incs after, and no disqualification limit.
