Changes to Indycar on iRacing Following Expiration of License Agreement

iRacing, the popular online racing simulation platform, has announced that its current license agreement with Indycar is set to expire on December 31, 2022. Indycar has signed an exclusive license with another developer that goes into effect on January 1, 2023, resulting in some notable changes to the way iRacing presents Indycar racing. Most significantly, iRacing will no longer be able to run an official Indycar branded series or the iRacing Indy 500. The Indycar Series logo will also be removed from iRacing sites.

However, iRacing plans to continue to support the Dallara race cars (IR18, DW12 & Dallara IR-05) and there will be no changes to the use or racing of non-Indycar series at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, such as NASCAR and IMSA. While iRacing is still working on finalizing a new license agreement with Indycar, it is unclear what further changes may be made. Until the new license agreement is finalized, it is uncertain what the future holds for Indycar on the iRacing platform.
